There’s one thing I’ve collected that I never intended to have a collection of…and that’s plastic grocery bags!  Everytime I go to the store I come away with at least a dozen or so.  I have installed a grocery bag holder inside my pantry cupboard, so that they are in one place and easy to get to.  At first I didn’t have a clue on what to do with them.  Then I did some research and below are some things you can do with those ever multiplying plastic bags…

  • Grab a couple of plastic bags and use them as knee pads. Tie one around each knee, covering the area that will be exposed to dirt and grime!
  • Use bags as gloves to handle what’s messy or just plain gross (great to use when cleaning up after your dog).
  • Avoid dripping water all over your (or anyone else’s) apartment on a rainy day, pop your wet umbrella into a plastic grocery bag.

Riverwalk

There is no better way to relax, than to go and enjoy an outdoor concert.  Every Sunday, you can head to Fort Lauderdale’s Riverwalk and enjoy the best in local Jazz.  Artists from the local area perform the first Sunday of the month from 11am to 2pm.  Everyone is invited to come and listen to their soulful sounds.  To make it more fun, you can make it a family affair by bringing your favorite pet along with you.  As this is an outdoor event, bring along your lawn chairs, blankets and even a picnic.

Kitchen Vermont

My favorite room has to be the kitchen.  When I have friends and family over it is the one place that we always seem to congregate in.  It must be a tradition in my family to gather together where all the food is, as we did this when I was a child.  Which is your favorite room?

Take the poll and let me know where you like to spend most of your free time.

Just a little side note.  The above picture is not my kitchen, but I really wish it was!

Cyndi Lauper. What can I say about her? Well, for a start, she’s awesome, timeless and a very successful singer, songwriter. Since she achieved success in the 1980’s, she has had a steady and lucrative career, selling over 25 million albums worldwide. She branched out into acting, but has stayed true to her first love, singing! The ‘girl who just wants to have fun’ is coming to the Adrienne Arsht Center, August 3, 2010. There are still tickets available for this concert. So, if your a CL fan, don’t wait to long.

Out in theaters today, Friday, July 9, is Steve Carell’s new movie, ‘Despicable Me.’ His character Gru wants to take over the world and his dastardly scheme and the way he’s going to achieve world domination is to steal the moon! Sounds reasonable enough, right? Not so fast! Enter three small children and his plan is soon foiled! I have read a couple of reviews of this movies and they are favorable. So, I will be heading to the movies this weekend to see it.

Here is where you can see ‘Despicable Me’

Check out the trailer.

This is one of my favorite Disney movies! When my girls were smaller, we would watch this movie all the time! Now, you can see it at the Delray Beach Playhouse. Beauty and The Beast Jr, is playing there, July 6 and 7, 2010.

beauty and the beast beauty and the beast 1

Based on the Academy Award winning animated feature, the stage version of Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST includes all of the wonderful songs from the film, written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, (the team responsible for LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS), plus new songs written especially for the Broadway version by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice (ALADDIN, AIDA).

Your audiences will be transported to a lovely French provincial town where the beautiful Belle lives with her father – a dotty inventor. When her father doesn’t return from a trip to the local fair, Belle rushes off to find him. To her dismay, she discovers he is being held captive in an old castle by a horrible beast. She trades her freedom for his and the “tale as old as time” begins. How Belle tames the unfortunate Beast and his ultimate transformation into a handsome prince continues to enthrall audiences. Filled with spectacular costume and set opportunities, or even more simply staged, Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Jr. offers a great opportunity to bring your entire community together for family theatre at its best.
